A Letter From Our Capital Campaign Chairs

Since 2000, Lilyfield has had a strong reputation for protecting at-risk children through our adoption, foster care, and counseling programs.

We have always responded to the needs of broken families and hurting children, no matter how challenging. Recently, however, we began to ask ourselves a different set of questions. What if we could keep children out of the foster care system? What if we could strengthen families and communities and keep children and parents together?

In early 2021 we purchased a dilapidated building in need of total renovation at Apache and North Peoria. Shortly afterwards, we were able to purchase the adjacent land which provides parking, room for future expansion, and welcoming green space. This Family Resource Center will provide a beautiful, welcoming place that will allow us to increase vital supports and programming.

This neighborhood demands safe spaces, and an updated facility will help fill that void. This center will enable us to provide services such as mental health counseling, case management for families, youth life skills groups, social-emotional learning and groups, educational support, mentoring, food distribution, and other tangible resources at no cost to the families in the surrounding community. Most importantly, it will be a place where families can grow stronger and build networks of safe connections.

Please partner with us as we renovate this space into a wonderful place that will allow children and their parents to envision a future full of opportunity and hope.

- Senator Kevin Matthews and Amy Emerson, for the Lilyfield Board of Directors

Building a Family Resource Center

Through data shared with us by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, we have identified the 74106 zip code in North Tulsa as one that has elevated rates of children entering foster care. The community has high rates of child maltreatment, poverty, and single-parent households and has little access to opportunities for healthy groceries, gainful employment, mental health services or higher education.

Our EmpowerTulsa Program embraces a community-development approach to our two-generational model of services through our family resource centers. In our service delivery, we engage both children and their caregivers through wraparound services that respond to the needs of the entire family.

Our programming goal is to improve protective factors among at-risk individuals, including hope, resiliency and social-emotional wellbeing. As we provide services to our children and families within our foster care prevention programming, we primarily seek to alleviate the disparities of mental wellness which are affected by generational experiences of trauma, higher Adverse Childhood Experiences, higher risk of abuse and neglect, and lack of parenting skills evident in our service area. Lilyfield maintains a family-focused approach with the aim of strengthening

Nurturing Families

Youth Mentoring

Providing comprehensive, evidence-based group mentoring services to at-risk children designed to improve child safety, mental well-being, and social emotional competence within partner schools, housing sites and at family resource centers.

Foster Care

Providing foster care for children ages 0 to 17 years who are in the custody of the State of Oklahoma due to child abuse or neglect. The Lilyfield staff and foster parents form a team to provide a healthy, healing environment to the children placed in foster homes.

Counseling

Serving children and families through evidence- based, trauma-informed, and attachment-focused interventions, who are disproportionately impacted by risk factors that increase mental health challenges.

Bright Futures

Serving children and families through education support, family strengthening activities, individualized parent coaching, and other services designed to transform families and communities to be places where children are safe and can thrive. The Bright Futures program improves family stability by using a parent peer-support and coaching model to promote family stability in the communities.

AmeriCorps

Lilyfield AmeriCorps members serve as mentors for children and families in public schools in south

Oklahoma City and North Tulsa. AmeriCorps members implement the Check & Connect mentoring program resulting in improved social and emotional skills for children at risk for child maltreatment

Foundations

Providing valuable parenting education and support for women of all ages as they embark on the journey of pregnancy and/or parenting children ages 12 months and under. We provide individual and group counseling, education, and support services to help empower women to provide the solid foundation in life that is critical for young infants.

Why Here?

Lilyfield strategically purchased a building and adjacent lot located in our targeted 74106 service area, close to our clients.

We are invested in the North Tulsa Community and are excited to put down roots to provide site-based services and programming at this Family Resource Center that will not only benefit, enrich, and inspire our community, but also establish our long-term commitment.

This community center will include a large multi-purpose classroom/meeting space, counseling room and area for future expansion. Services will include after school and school break programs, sports programs, STEAM learning, mental health support, parent support groups and classes, family fun nights, community gatherings, and more.

Dear Friends,

In the 14 years that I have worked at Lilyfield, we have re-imagined the way we serve those in need in Oklahoma. We have looked at the data and research that says that bandaging a gaping wound will not reduce the number of children who enter the child welfare system each year. Traumatic experiences negatively affect children for the rest of their lives. Sometimes all an at-risk family needs is hope and empowerment.

Through our Cultivate Tulsa Campaign, we can ensure space

and resources for the families we serve at our EmpowerTulsa program. You can help us in our endeavor. You can provide a counseling office for a child during a crisis. You can provide a multipurpose room for children to safely study and play after school. You can provide a reception area where children and families are warmly greeted and assisted.

Please join us as we commit to creating lasting change so that families are empowered to be safe, resilient, and engaged.
